AMD Announces Second-Generation Trinity A-Series APUs – Retail Availability Next Week-February 2024

AMD, today announced the Second-Generation APUs codenamed "Trinity" which feature the new Piledriver core architecture and compatibility with the latest FM2 socket motherboards.

Trinity based APUs are compatible with the A75 and A85 chipset boards supporting the FM2 socket for APUcompatibility, Each chip comes with an integrated northbridge alongwith thedual-channel DDR3-1866 MHz integrated memory controller.

The launch lineup was kicked off with the fastest A10-5000 series quad core chips, the chips are packed with an Unlocked multiplier for overclocking and upto 384 stream processors on the HD 7000 series IGP based on the VLIW4 architecture. There are also A8-5000 Quad core chips which are equipped with a 256 stream processor IGP while retaining most of the features of the higher clocked chips, The A6-5000 pack 192 stream processors followed by the entry level A4-5000 which have 128 stream processors on the IGP.
