Radeon HD 8000

AMD launched its latest Mobile and Desktop (OEM) Radeon HD 8000 GPUs at its CES press conference. While the mobile Radeon HD 8000M gets updated with the latest GCN architecture, the Desktop OEM Radeon HD 8000 GPUs remain a mere rebrand of currentgenerationGCN based Radeon HD 7000 series.

AMD Radeon HD 8000 GPU Lineup - Rebranded for OEM

All of us got excited when Lenovo leaked the Radeon HD 8950 3 GB inside their latest Erazer X700 gaming PC.However, it turns out to be that the Radeon HD 8950 3 GB inside the OEM PC is just a rebranded Radeon HD 7950 3 GB with the exact same specifications. This goes for the complete OEM Radeon HD 8000 GPU lineup which AMD has prepped up for launch in Q2 2013. Following is the list of HD 8000 Desktop OEM GPUs which are rebrands of HD 7000 series GPUs:

This rebranding would cause alot of confusion (if the codenames weren't enough) in Q2 2013 when both the actual GCN 2.0 Radeon HD 8000 GPUs and these OEM Radeon HD 8000 GPUs hit the shelves. So now we atleast know that the series being shipped with the OEM PCs are rebrands and actual HD 8000 GPUs would be available separately in Q2 2013. You can check out the specifications of Radeon HD 8000 OEM GPUs below:
