With a few weeks left in launch, the first graphics performance benchmarks of the AMD Raven Ridge APUs have appeared. The latest results showcase the power of Vega which is embedded within the same silicon that contains fast Zen core for a incredible value oriented package that would turn out to be great for budget gamers.
AMD Raven Ridge "Ryzen With Vega iGPU" Graphics Performance Results Revealed - A Fast and Budget Oriented Replacement That Tackles Entry Level Discrete 'eSports' GPUs
AMD Raven Ridge APUs will be launching on 12th of February as confirmed by AMD at CES 2018. The launch will introduce two new APUs in the market, the Ryzen 5 2400G and the Ryzen 3 2200G. Both of these APUs contain Zen CPU cores and Vega GPU cores on the same silicon and will run on AM4 socketed platforms. This means that users can purchase an A320 or B350 motherboard and build them a budget oriented PC that plays almost every eSports title with good performance. The Zen cores also guarantee the best in-class modern day application performance.
The performance results were posted by moepc.net and reveal that the Ryzen 5 2400G with its Vega 11 graphics core is actually a quite competitive chip in regards to both graphics and CPU performance. The chip managed to be on par with entry level discrete GPUs such as the RX 550 and the GT 1030. This means that the chip itself will be able to deliver good eSports gaming performance without the need of rocking a discrete graphics solution.

The Ryzen 3 2200G on the other hand with its Vega 8 iGPU core is faster than the Vega 8 mobile variant featured on the Ryzen 5 2500U which is due to the fact that the desktop version runs at slightly faster speeds with higher stability thanks to higher TDP. The chip is slightly below the NVIDIA MX150 mobile solution but for a $99 US chip, this result is still quite impressive. We also saw the first unboxing of the AMD Ryzen APUs yesterday which you can check out over here.
The results also showcase performance of the RX Vega M GL chip which has been featured on the Intel 8th generation core processors that include EMIB package. This is one of the beefiest on-die Vega solution implemented and one that is custom made for Intel by RTG. This chip blows away the GTX 1050 Ti which is a $130 US+ discrete graphics card.
AMD Raven Ridge APU Specifications in Detail:
As far as the specifications of these APUs are concerned, we have the Ryzen 5 2400G which rocks a quad core design with eight threads. This APU is clocked at a base frequency of 3.6 GHz and boosts up to 3.9 GHz. There’s 8 MB of L3+L2 cache on the chip and it also comes with a on-die Vega GPU. This Vega GPU has 11 compute units which means there are 704 stream processors clocked at 1250 MHz. The chip has a configurable TDP of 45-65W. About the pricing, the chip will cost $169 US at launch.
The second product is the Ryzen 3 2200G which like its bigger brother, comes with a quad core and eight thread layout. The clock frequencies are maintained at 3.5 GHz base and 3.7 GHz boost while featuring 8 MB of L3+L2 cache. The chip features 8 Vega compute units on the graphics die so that’s a total of 512 stream processors clocked at 1100 MHz. The cTDP rating is the same for this chip at 45 / 65W and the pricing for this chip will be set at just $99 US.
