AMD's highest end 8-core Black Edition Ryzen 7 1800X and 1700X have beenspotted at Fry's electronics priced at$489 and $389 respectively. Both CPUs will begin shipping to buyers on March 2nd, whilst the embargo reviews for AMD's Ryzen processors will end on February 28th. This gives potential buyers two days to look at independent benchmarks andtests of the next generation processors before they can pull the trigger.

The Ryzen 7 1800X and 1700X are overclockable unlocked 8 core, 16 thread CPUs. They're both alsoBlack Edition models, featuring AMD’s unlimited Turbo “auto-overclocking” XFR technology and have TDP ratings of95W.

The February 28th embargo date is interestingly the very same day the company is kicking off its “Capsaicin & Cream” GDC 2017 press event which will be live-streamed and will includea sneak peek at AMD’s upcoming enthusiast Vega GPUs which the company has hinted will be releasedin the summer.

The Ryzen 7 1700X and its 65W variant the 1700 have been subject to multiple performance benchmark leaks, all of which have painted a very positive picture of Ryzen’s multi-core and single-core performance. In fact, these sub $400 chips have competed favorably with Intel’s $1000+ i7 5960X and i7 6900K 8 core Haswell-E and Broadwell-E CPUs.
