AMD has finally unveiled what can be called a "bridge" between high & lower-end PRO offerings, the Radeon PRO W7700 GPU, featuring a $999 US price tag.

AMD Radeon PRO W7700 Aims To Be The Fastest Professional GPU Under $1000 US, Tackles NVIDIA RTX 4000 SFF Ada

The AMD Radeon PRO W7700 has been known for a while now. Based on AMD's plans, it looks like this might be the last entrant in their W7000 workstation lineup. The GPU is positioned perfectly between the Navi 31-based Radeon Pro W7800 and the Navi 33-based Radeon Pro W7600, in terms of specifications and performance.

Diving into the specifications, the AMD Radeon PRO W7700 features a Navi 32-based GPU, but it is a "stripped down" one to some extent since it features just 48 CUs (Compute Units) enabled.

In terms of the onboard memory, the workstation GPU comes with 16GB GDDR6 capacity, offering up to 576 GB/s bandwidth along with the inclusion of an ECC-protected memory, which was previously exclusive to higher-end models within the lineup. According to AMD, the Radeon PRO W7700 is able to deliver 28.3 TFLOPS of FP32 compute power with an estimated clock speed of around 2.3GHz.

AMD has also held a bit back in the power department with the Radeon PRO W7700, as the GPU features 190W TBP, which is in the middle range compared to the overall lineup. The figure seems fine here, considering AMD has employed a decent cooling solution with the GPU as well.

For industry applications, the GPU supports 64 MB of Infinity Cache, along with extensive AV1 encoding support, which is able to stream at up to 8K60. The Radeon Pro W7700 also boasts four different DisplayPort 2.1 connectors, which AMD labels as a "huge generational upgrade".

The graphics card is positioned against the NVIDIA 4000 SFF Ada which costs $1250 US while offering better performance in a range of workloads but the Ada GPU has advantages when it comes to higher VRAM capacity and a vastly lower power design, sipping in just 70W of power. The Radeon PRO W7700 delivers up to 1.7X better price/performance than the competitive offering, as well as double-digit higher performance in key professional applications, including:

Up to 52% higher performance in SOLIDWORKSUp to 24% higher performance in CreoUp to 37% higher performance in CATIA

In terms of the overall pricing, the AMD Radeon Pro W7700 is priced at $999, which positions it right between the W7600 and the W7800. The GPU will be available in "stand-alone card form" by multiple PC retailers, and OEMs are expected to integrate the GPU into workstation systems by next month.
