Android 7 Nougat Is About To Lose Support For Google Chrome And Calendar
Android 7 Nougat Is About To Lose Support For Google Chrome And Calendar-February 2024
Feb 11, 2026 11:49 PM

Android versions losing support is nothing new in the tech world. The same happens on Apple's side of things, and now it appears that Google has decided to drop support for both Google Calendar and Chrome for devices running Android 7 Nougat. This means that if you want to continue using these apps, you will have to use a device that runs a more recent version of Android.

Android 7 Nougat loses support for two of the quintessential Android apps after seven years

This is nothing new, as it happens all the time, and considering how it has been seven years since Android 7 Nougat dropped, it only makes sense that Google has finally decided to end the support. Do note that at the moment, only Chrome and Calendar are being shelved. This means that the support for other Google apps could still continue, but we are not sure for how long.

This was spotted on the support page where Google talks about how the new Chrome 120 will not support or ship to users who are still running Android 7 Nougat. You can read the full statement below:

The last version of Chrome that supports Android Nougat is Chrome 119, and it includes a message to affected users informing them to upgrade their operating system.

Chrome 120 will not support nor ship to users running Android Nougat.

Currently, the latest version of Google Chrome on Android devices is 119. This means that this will be the last version that is still going to run on Android 7 Nougat, and once the latest version is released, it will no longer run.

Sadly, there is no official way around this problem, but if you want to keep using your old device without having to upgrade to a new one. The safest thing to do is go for a custom ROM. There are a ton of options available that you can use, and the best thing is that most of them offer the latest versions of Android, as well. So you will not have to stick to Android 7 Nougat. However, if installing a custom ROM is not something you are adept at, then I would highly suggest that you look for a different browser and calendar for your device because once Google updates the aforementioned apps, you will not be able to use them.
