Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 already had got the first alpha build of Paranoid Android 3.50 AOSP 4.2.2. Now the Galaxy Nexus Verizon users can also have this gorgeous custom ROM installed. With Halo chatting, per app DPI and layout and many more features, PA v3.50 looks promising.
Note:since Paranoid Android 4.2.2 is in development stages so you should expect some bugs and issues at this stage. Though they are readily taken care of as the development progresses.
Check these pre reqsbefore you update Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2.2 ParanoidAndroid Custom ROM:
Create a backup of all important data in your Nexus device.Download and install USB drivers for Galaxy Nexus in your computer.Enable USB debugging option by pressingMenu>Settings>Applications. Navigate and tap onDeveloper Optionsto ensure thatUSB Debuggingis enabled.Make sure that custom recovery tool (CWM or TWRP) is installed. Update recovery tool to the latest.Perform a Nandroid backup to restore back since the ROM is still in development phase and you might want to switch back.Ensure that your Galaxy Nexus carries more than 70% of charge.
Install AOSP Paranoid Android 3.50 for Galaxy Nexus Verizon Toro:
Required files: download PA 3.50for Galaxy Nexus andGoogle Apps Packagefor your device.
Connect your Galaxy Nexus to computer using USB cable.Copy the downloaded zip files to the SD card of your Nexus- do not extract any file.Disconnect your device and swirtch it off.Boot the Nexus into recovery mode: press and holdVolume Up,Volume Downand thePowerbutton simultaneously until the screen flashes and then release all the keys. Use volume keys to scroll and power key to select any option.Perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM on Nexus: selectBackup and Restore>Backup.Next, we will be performing the wipe tasks: selectwipe data/factory reset, once done,come back to main menu and selectwipe cache partition.Finally wipe the dalvik cache by selectingWipe Dalvik CacheunderAdvanceoption.Selectinstall zip from sdcardfollowed bychoose zip from sdcard. Locate the ParanoidAndroidzipfile downloaded earlier and confirm the installation on next screen.Once the ROM installation completes successfully, repeat the above step for the GApps instead of ROM firmware to install the Google apps package.When installation is done, go back to the main recovery menu and selectreboot system nowtoboot the Nexus into the new Paranoid Android 4.2.2 v3.50. First boot takes a few minutes, so give your device enough time.
