Jul 27, 2024 3:52 AM

While there was an earlier leak indicating that iPhone 6s Plus would be sporting a 2K display (or in other words, a 1440p one), looks like Apple’s spike in orders for dense resolution displays have given away details that iPhone 6s Plus would indeed be featuring a 1440p resolution. It is only fitting that while Apple incorporatesimpressive hardware in its upcoming flagship iPhone duo, and while doing that, the tech giant should also increase the number of pixels resonating from both handsets as well.

Industry Sources State That Apple Has Increased Orders For High-Resolution Displays For Its iPhone 6s And iPhone 6s Plus

A report from DigiTimes reports the following statistical data:

“While overall smartphone market growth continues to slow, global demand for LTPS TFT LCD for smartphones is on the rise. Led by Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, LTPS TFT LCD smartphone display shipments grew 31% in the first half of 2015 to reach 251 million units. The iPhone displays made up 52% of all LTPS TFT LCD smartphone display shipments in the first half, according to IHS.”

Additionally, the report also states that display manufactures will be investing substantial amounts of capital in ensuring that proper demand can be met for both LTPS TFT LCD and high-resolution AMOLED displays, indicating that Apple has requested a large order of the former. According to Hiroshi Hayase, the director of analysis and research currently stationed at IHS; he states that:

“Apple adopted wider displays with higher resolution in its latest iPhone series, which has helped spur demand in LTPS TFT LCD displays. Due to strong growth in LTPS TFT LCD for the iPhone, Apple competitors are also now increasing orders of high-resolution displays.”

In addition to sporting a high-resolution display, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are going to feature the company’s A9 SoC, which is going be processed on TSMC’s 16 nm FinFET and Samsung’s 14 nm FinFET process. Furthermore, these are the same chips that are expected to be present in Apple’s iPhone 6c.

Moving on, iPhone 6s’ camera will be able to record 4K videos at an astounding 240 FPS. While increasing the display resolution shows that Apple is keeping up with the times of current generation technology, it would also be a very good idea to incorporate a large capacity battery in both handsets.

Both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are expected to be announced during the month of September, so stay tuned for more updates.
