Apple Vision Pro Successor With Faster And More Efficient SoC Is Already In The Works
Apple Vision Pro Successor With Faster And More Efficient SoC Is Already In The Works-July 2024
Jul 30, 2025 7:00 AM

The first Apple Vision Pro is not expected to grace the market until 2024, and there is word going around, talking about work being done on the second model. According to the latest report, the successor is said to be powered by a faster chipset, which was expected.

Vision Pro successor could be unveiled alongside a cheaper model as Apple reportedly aims to introduce an iPhone-like launch strategy

With Apple banked in on taking the mixed-reality headset market by storm, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has chimed in through his Power On newsletter, talking about the future of the Vision Pro. Given the absurd $3,499 price tag, it is clear that the first-generation model is only going to target a small percentage of Apple customers, but the technology giant reportedly has a plan for a cheaper model, but it is not expected until 2025.

However, Gurman states in his newsletter that, ‘at the same time,’ an Apple Vision Pro successor is in the works and will ship with a faster chipset. If you notice the choice of words, it appears that the cheaper AR headset will be sold alongside the more expensive one, and this is similar to the iPhone launch strategy that Apple has currently adopted. For 2022, we saw two regular iPhone 14 models paired with the Pro versions, and later this year, we should see a similar approach. The company might follow a similar path with its headsets.

“Apple is already working on a second-generation Vision Pro with a faster processor, indicating it’s intent on a two-product strategy for the device in line with the standard iPhone and iPhone Pro models. But, for now, Apple has to hope that the high price of the Vision Pro doesn't drive people away from the category and that there will be enough consumers ready to line up for a cheaper version into 2026.”

The exact specifications of the Apple Vision Pro successor were not mentioned in the newsletter, and neither was how aesthetically different that device would look compared to the first-generation model. We certainly hope that the pricing can be brought down a notch since it helps to get significant traction in major markets while also being widely adopted by the masses. Just like the non-Pro and Pro iPhone family, the ‘Pro’ version of the headset is expected to ship with exclusive features, which we will update our readers on when more information shows up, so stay tuned.
