CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Stable Builds are Out – How to Install on Nexus 4-July 2024

CM 12.1 Nightly builds have been available for the past few months. Building on that, team CyanogenMod has started releasing stable buildsof CM 12.1 for all the popular Samsung, HTC, and Nexus devices. Here is how to flash Android 5.1.1 AOSP based CM 12.1 stable custom ROM on your Nexus 4.

How to install CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Stable ROM on Nexus 4:

As always, before we get to the actual steps, there are a few prerequisites that you need to take care of.

Create a backup of your data for when you run into some problem during the process.Make sure that yourNexus 4has at least 80% of battery life.Your deviceshould be rooted using the most recent recovery system installed.Itsbootloader should be unlocked.Make sure to enable USB Debugging on your Nexus 4.

Required files:downloadCM 12.1Android 5.1.1 custom ROM for Nexus 4.Also download Gapps fromhere.

Step 1:

Connect yourNexus4to your PCusing USB cable and copy the downloaded filesto the internal storage of your device. Poweroff your device and unplug from the computer.

Step 2:

Boot your Nexus 4 to Custom Recovery mode: press and holdPower,Volume UpandVolume Downbutton. Release them when you see the Bootloader or Fastboot menu. You will see the Start button on the screen, useVolume UpandDownuntil it highlightsthe Recovery Mode. PressPowerbutton to enter Recovery.

Step 3:

SelectBackup and Restoreto perform Nandroid Backup and then go back to main menu. Next, you must wipe data by selectingwipe data/factory reset. Also,wipe cache partitionto perform cache wipe. Finally, Delvik Cache should also be wiped fromAdvanced>Wipe Delvik Cache.

Step 4:

Now, selectInstall zip from sdcard>choose zip from sdcardfrom the main recovery menu. Locate the StableCM 12.1Android 5.1.1 custom ROM for Nexus 4. Select and confirm.

Step 5:

When the Stable CM 12.1customROM is flashed, use the same method to install GApps. After you are done,selectreboot system nowto perform a normal boot. It will take some time to load all files as this is the first boot after flashing.
