Registered developers can now download watchOS 4 Beta 4 on their Apple Watch. Here's how you can update straight away.

watchOS 4 might not seem like a big deal, but it packs a lot of important changes under the hood. While most of those features are geared towards those who are into the world of fitness and training, normal consumers like us will find several benefits from it too.

The final build of watchOS 4 will become available to download for everyone later this year. Now, the software is available to those enrolled in the company beta program. This means you must part your way with $99 on an annual basis in order to get access to the software. Once you do, you can take the beta of watchOS 4 for a spin on either an Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2 or the original Apple Watch model. Keep one important thing in mind though: once you upgrade to any beta release of watchOS, there's no way you can downgrade back. This is extremely important, and everyone should know about it.

Download watchOS 4 Beta 4 Over the Air

First and foremost, make sure your Apple Watch is placed on its magnetic charger. Once it is, follow the steps outlined below.

Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.Navigate to General > Software Update.Tap on Download and Install once watchOS 4 Beta 4 becomes available.

watchOS 4 is not available for public beta testers. This means you must have a paid developer account at hand with Apple in order to download and install watchOS 4. Installing other beta software on a device such as an iPhone, iPad or a Mac is somewhat OK. But when it comes to Apple Watch, it's best to take as much precaution one absolutely can. If something goes wrong during usage and you are forced to go back to watchOS 3, there's no way you can. You will be forced to take your wearable to Apple itself for the downgrade. And in case you don't know, you'll be sending your device away for a few days before it returns to you with watchOS 3 installed. Basically, it's a route you should avoid at all costs.
