Early Pixel 7a Benchmarks Show That The Phone Is Faster Than Pixel 7 Despite Offering The Same Chipset At A Cheaper Price
Early Pixel 7a Benchmarks Show That The Phone Is Faster Than Pixel 7 Despite Offering The Same Chipset At A Cheaper Price-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 1:27 AM

The Pixel 7a is going to be available for everyone in just 6 days. This is good news for everyone who has spent a long time wondering about Google's affordable Pixel, and today, we have our hands on alleged Geekbench benchmarks of the device, showing despite having the same Tensor G2 chipset, the phone is actually faster than the Pixel 7, making it a stellar value for anyone who is looking to buy an affordable device.

If the latest benchmark is to be believed in, the Pixel 7a makes a compelling argument for being one of the best affordable smartphones

Now, the Geekbench 6 listing explicitly mentions that the Pixel 7a comes with a Tensor G2 chipset and 8 gigs of RAM. Both of these corroborate with the information we have received numerous times over the past couple of months.

Based on the listing, the Pixel 7a manages to score an impressive 1,380 points in single-core and 3,071 points in multi-core testing. For the sake of comparison, the Pixel 7 scores 1,336 on single-core and 3,071 on multi-core. Before you start cursing, it is also worth noting that despite scoring higher, we doubt there is a possibility of the actual, real-world performance difference, so your phone is just as viable as before.

Now, despite being comparatively cheaper than the standard Pixel 7, the Pixel 7a still looks like it is going to ban excellent value for money. Especially if you are looking for a device on a budget, we are not sure how the phone is going to perform in other departments, especially the camera, because that is the biggest draw for any Pixel device, but the early impressions, at least as far as the performance is concerned, are pretty solid, and I am looking forward to seeing what Google actually brings us in a few days.

The Pixel 7a is said to cost $499, which would make it one of the best smartphones in the market as far as the price is concerned. Hopefully, Google has a home run on its hands, and we will not be disappointed with what the company has to offer. Not to forget, there have also been rumors that Google could be ending the Pixel lineup after the latest release, so if that is the case, this is another thing to keep in mind.

Are you looking to get your hands on the Pixel 7a? Let us know what you are looking forward to the most in Google's upcoming mid-range Pixel phone.
