First introduced with iOS 8, Continuity is possibly one of the best things that Apple offers making digital lives a little easier. With features offered under Continuity, it has become possible to work or do anything and switch between iPhone, iPad or a Mac without breaking the flow.

You can also send and receive calls or messages from your Mac and iPad when your iPhone isn't nearby to you. However, this feature was limited in functionality as it required to have both the devices to be on the same Wi-Fi network for them to be able to use Continuity.

This changes with iOS 9 release last week as the OS bringsCellular Continuity. It essentially means that you would no longer need to have your iPhone any close to you if you want to be able to make calls via iPad. Simple and small change but offers a lot of convenience!

T-Mobile is the first major carrier offering Cellular Continuity through its networks and is supporting the feature for developers running iOS 9 developer preview. So how to get this feature that makes sure you are never out of touch even when you forget your iPhone at your home?

Enable Cellular Continuity:

Here is the easy way to set up Cellular Continuity on your iOS 9 and El Capitan powered devices. You will needto be signed in on the same iCloud account on all your devices.

- On your iPhone:

OpenSettings> tapPhone.Tap Calls on Other Devices.EnableAllow Calls on Other Devices.TapAdd Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices.

- On your iPad (or Mac):

Open Settings> tap FaceTime.TapCalls from iPhone> toggleCalls from iPhoneon.Tap Upgrade to Wi-Fi calling>Enable.Enter the code here given on your iPhone to activate calling.TapAllow.Wait for the Wi-Fi Calls to be activated.

These steps essentially bind your iCloud account with your carrier. Which means that you would be able to make and receive calls and send text messages using your iPad even if your iPhone is completely turned off. Isn't that fascinating? Just make sure you are signed in on both the devices using same iCloud account.
