After being away from the global market for a year, the Exynos 2400 will finally return in the Galaxy S24 series next year. The chipset is said to debut in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be exclusively using the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. As expected, there are a lot of expectations from Samsung's latest chipset in terms of performance, and today, we have some bad news for those who have been waiting for it to come out.

Things are not looking good for the Exynos 2400, as the chipset is still struggling against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

We have our hands on the first GPU test of the Exynos 2400, and the test shows that the new chipset actually lags behind and performs slightly slower compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Of course, since the chipset is not out yet, you can expect some optimization issues, but it is still worth noting.

As you can see in the image above, the Galaxy S24, using an Exynos 2400 chipset, scored 1656 points in the test. On the other hand, the Galaxy S23 using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores higher at 1746. Now, the difference is just 90 points and might not matter in the long run, but this raises concerns about how the new chipset is going to perform in CPU tests and whether or not it will be able to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

At the time of writing, neither the Exynos 2400 nor the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are officially out in the market. This means we will have to wait and see how these chipsets play against each other. If you are wary of how the performance might be on the Exynos chipset, then you will be happy to know that the Ultra variant will be getting the Snapdragon chipset despite the region you are in. You might be out of luck with the rest of the two variants, as they will be getting these chipsets based on the region you are from.

As a long-term Samsung user, I have been looking forward to the Exynos 2400, but the more we learn about the new chipset, the scarier the situation gets. I am really hoping that Samsung sorts this issue out and we actually get our hands on a chipset that is powerful enough.
