Here's how you can find a WiFi network password using just your Mac. Thistip is absolutely simple to follow and even the novice of users can try it out right away.

We all know that one person who won'tshare their WiFi network password with us, thinking that we might end up connecting a whole host of devices to their hotspot, clogging up the network altogether. And the cringing part about that person is; they would prefer to enter the password on ournotebook, smartphone or tablet themselves, so things are kept as secret as possible. Well, if you have a Mac, then you can find out the WiFi network password rather easilyif you're connected to the hotspot, or have connected to it at least once.

Find WiFi Network Password Using Your Mac

1. First and foremost, launch Terminal. You can either launch it via Finder, or using Spotlight and doing a search for 'Terminal.' It's completely your call which route you wish to take as long as the end result is the launch of Terminal.

2. Type in the following command in Terminal:

security find-generic-password -ga “WiFiNAME” | grep “password:”

Replace "WiFiNAME" with the name of the WiFi network you wishto find the password of. Once everything's set, hit the 'return' key on your Mac's keyboard.

3. You'll be prompted to enter your Mac's administrator username and password. Fill in the boxes and then click on 'Allow' to proceed.

4. You'll now be presented with the WiFi network's password in plain, human readable text right inside Terminal.

Whether your friend tells you their WiFi network password or not, you now have a way to find it out for yourself as long as you have a Mac and know your way around Terminal.

By now you might've guessed already that this technique only works as long as you've connected to a secure WiFi connection at least once, and you've hit the 'Remember This Network' checkbox before hitting 'Ok.' So basically, you cannot perform this trick on a network which you haven't connected to at all, so be sure to keep that in mind before pulling this trick off in front of your friends of family members.
