The game won’t feature all the content included in its Xbox One release, but it will be offered up for free.

Development studio Turn 10 has assembled 12 events that are being referred to as ‘driving stories,’ according to a report from PC Gamer. Each focusses in on a particular style of race or vehicle, such as an ‘Italian Greats’ series that’s littered with cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Apex will go beyond pure racing with an expanded implementation of the scoring system that’s become a staple of the franchise. Each event includes objectives that give players another way to excel, for instance — performing a certain number of tight passes without touching the car being overtaken.

Turn 10 is planning to offer 63 cars, and more than 20 tracks, across 6 real-world environments. Post-launch, new content will be added into the game via its Spotlight mode, which will also be offered up for free. It’s unclear exactly what this ongoing support will comprise of, and whether it will be all-new or simply sourced from the Xbox One version of the game.

Microsoft reports that Forza Motorsport 6 Apex will boast support for DirectX 12 and run at 4K resolutions on PC. The original game was something of a graphical showcase on console, and it’s clear that the intention is for its Windows 10 release to be similarly impressive.

Forza Motorsport 6 Apex is scheduled to be made available this spring. However, Microsoft is remaining loyal to its own storefront, perhaps to the chagrin of Steam devotees — if you’re looking to download this title, you’ll need to do so via the Windows Store on Windows 10.
