Samsung devices are undoubtedly one of the best on the market when it comes to pretty much anything. One of the few areas where they fall flat in the face of competition is low light photography. Companies such as Google and Huawei are miles ahead of Samsung in that department. The Samsung Galaxy S10 series was the first to ship with a dedicated 'Night Mode' in the camera. The feature then made its way to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ earlier this week and as of today, even Galaxy Note 9 users will be able to use it.

First spotted by Sammobile, the update bears firmware version N960FXXU3CSF9 weighing in at 704MB. Currently, it is only available to users in Germany but it is reasonable to assume that the update to roll out globally over the coming weeks. The update also brings the June 2019 security patch and some extra camera abilities including Bixby QR code scanning. Lastly, there are also some unnamed 'camera improvements' that we're not quite sure about. The most important addition of this update, however, is the addition of Night Mode. I'm yet to receive the update on my own Galaxy S9+, so I can't comment on just how well Night Mode works just yet. Till then, your best bet is to install a Google Camera port with Night Sight enabled. You may have to wait a few weeks to receive the OTA on your Exynos Galaxy Note 9. The Snapdragon variants may have to wait a bit longer as Samsung generally prioritises the Exynos models over the Snapdragon ones. If you want to check if you're eligible for the update, head over to your Settings > System update panel and check back regularly. Alternatively, you can try Samsung Smart Switch via a PC/Mac and sideload the update via USB.
