One of the biggest selling factors of the newly released Galaxy S23 Ultra is the brand-new 200-megapixel primary camera. Samsung has been making improvements to the already excellent 108-megapixel camera ever since the S20 Ultra came out, but with the latest flagship, the company wanted something even better. Although the phone's camera received excellent praise, one reviewing site disagreed and placed the camera on the 10th.
Galaxy S23 Ultra ranks the highest, leaving behind the iPhone 14 Pro Max and a host of other devices
Well, seems like VCX Forum, an independent camera review forum, does not have the same opinion as the website has ranked the camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra on the top, and when looking at the rest of the options, it clearly leaves everything else in the dust.
The VCX Forum has given the Galaxy S23 Ultra an overall score of 69/100, and while this number might look insultingly low, according to the testers, this is one of the prestigious and highest scores that any smartphone camera has received. For the sake of comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has received an overall score of 62/100.
The forum judges cameras based on the image quality, video, and performance of their stabilization and autofocusing, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra has scored impressively on all fronts. You can look at the detailed rating below:
VCX has presented a pretty solid overview of the scores of the phone, and honestly, I have not seen any user complaining about the phone's camera performing lower than what they had expected. Sure, we did recently hear about the debacle with the moon shot, along with some Galaxy S23 users experiencing blurriness in their photos, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra has been a solid performer through and through. What's more interesting, however, is the fact that the iPhone 14 Pro Max scored below the Galaxy S20 Ultra, a phone notorious for autofocusing issues. You can check out a brief look at the phones compared below:
Whether or not users agree with what VCX has to say is a different debate. The forum is an independent tester and has had a pretty solid track record of reviews and ratings when it comes to smartphone cameras. However, at the end of the day, it all boils down to the person using the phone. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has an excellent camera, and so do the iPhone 14 Pro Max and other phones mentioned in the list. Such scores can make a lot of difference in lab testing, but in real-world testing, things are not always the same, and that is the reason why one should take these scores with a pinch of salt.
