Not only is the Galaxy S8 fingerprint reader positioned at an extremely ‘hard to reach’ place, it is difficult to feel out as it is placed right next to the camera lens, featuring pretty much the same level of depression between the two different components. Galaxy S8 Fingerprint Reader Now Protrudes From the Back, Making It Much Easier to Feel Out and Unlock Your Smartphone

The fix that tech blogger Quinn Nelson managed to find will definitely help you to change up your Galaxy S8, although it will require you to possess a fair amount of skill in separating the glass panel present at the rear side. To get started, Nelson managed to break the back cover of the Galaxy S8 so he ordered a brand new and original one to replace it.

While replacing the back side, there were some slight complications that took place so he decided to use waterproof adhesive to secure the rear side into place. However, the fix that he managed to find for the Galaxy S8 might have turned up by mistake because he did not push down on the sensor in order to make it sit flush with the body of the smartphone.

The result, the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S8 now protrudes out of the back cover. When the device is placed on a flat surface with the rear side making contact with that surface, the smartphone no longer lies flat. This is one of the trade-offs that users are going to be experiencing when they decide to go ahead with this ‘fix’.

However, the added benefit is that the fingerprint reader is now much easier to feel out and unlock your phone with. If you really want to take a step and attempt to fix this by yourself, do so at your own risk. If you’re not experienced with this sort of thing, you might end up doing more damage to your handset.
