Everywhere you look, RTX 4080 gaming laptops are priced excessively high, but thankfully, GIGABYTE’s AORUS 17H bucks that trend by providing a solid machine for a ‘not so ridiculous’ price of $2,299.99 on Amazon. For some, even that asking price is ridiculous, but there have been moments where we spotted RTX 3080 gaming laptops for $2,000, and when you are getting the best of the best, spending a little more will not look bad at all.
Usually, we do not recommend 17-inch gaming laptops due to their sheer size, but the pricing and configuration of the AORUS 17H really caught us off guard. The display is an IPS LCD panel with a 1080p resolution that supports up to a 360Hz refresh rate. It appears that this particular model was geared toward esports enthusiasts.

The gaming laptop just oozes value thanks to its impressive hardware and pricing
However, you can also play AAA titles at the highest quality settings as the RTX 4080 not only supports DLSS 3.0 and Frame Generation, but its 12GB GDDR6 VRAM buffer will enable you to keep the machine for a significantly longer period for immersing yourself in those visually breathtaking games. Also, the GPU is running at the highest 175W power limit that NVIDIA has specified, so GIGABYTE has not cut any corners in this regard.
For the CPU, you get a 14-core Core Intel 13th-generation Core i7-13700H, which can operate at 5.00GHz when required, so it is unlikely that the processor will get limited. Aside from that, you get 16GB of DDR5 RAM, along with a 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe 4.0 SSD, both of which can be upgraded down the road and at your discretion. Given that the AORUS 17H features an Intel processor, the 99.9WHr battery will last you for a few hours, but do not expect an ‘all day’ endurance from this gaming laptop.

Here is the I/O on the gaming laptop
The port selection is stacked on this RTX 4080 machine, and for maximum throughput, GIGABYTE has included a Thunderbolt 4 port, if that matters to you. Perhaps the only downside to the AORUS 17H is that 1080p display, and we say this because RTX 4080 can comfortably push out sufficient frames at 1440p or even 4K in most games. What future users can do is increase the rendered resolution when they are playing a AAA game. Sadly, this option is not available in every game, so your experience will vary.
Then again, for $2,299.99, you are getting top-tier components, so we see no reason to complain if GIGABYTE decided to use a 1080p display on a 17.3-inch gaming laptop. Personally, we would have loved to see the same hardware on a 15.6-inch or even a 16-inch laptop, but perhaps the company will have similar plans in the future.
