Google Maps appears to be adding a number of new features that will improve the overall user experience. The new changes are great for those who have to commute regularly and also want a more leisurely time planning trips.
Google Maps' new features ensure you never get on the wrong train, as well as a feature to let a group of friends decide where they should go
In total, Google Maps is getting three new features on both Android and iOS. The first one makes some changes to transit directions - the purpose of this change is to ensure that you are not getting off at the wrong exit or getting on the wrong train, something that actually has happened to a lot of us.
Google claims that the new transit experience will offer recommendations that will be based on numerous factors such as ETA, trip duration, as well as number of transfers. This is going to make it easier for all Google Maps users to know the best route to their destination. Users will also have the ability to filter through the types of transit they are looking to take. The search engine giant also claims that users will be able to see where the station entrances and exits are, what side of the street they’re on, and a clear walking route to and from it.” In the coming weeks, you'll see these changes rolling out in 80 cities, including Berlin, Boston, London, and Madrid.
Google Maps is also getting a new feature that greatly improves collaboration. In the coming weeks, the company is going to roll out a collaborative lists feature. The purpose of this feature is to create a group where people will then add suggestions for the places to visit. Every member of the group will have the option to vote on the location they want to visit the most. I think it's a great feature for those who normally hang out a lot.
There is another feature coming to Google Maps that will let you add emoji reactions to photos, videos, as well as reviews. Users will get the choice to react with the default set of emojis, and they will even be able to create their own mixture using AI and Emoji Kitchen. This is the only feature that is currently rolling out across the globe.
Last week, we reported that Google could be working on bringing a chatbot to Google Maps. With this update, it appears that the company is slowly laying the foundation for what could be a full-fledged implementation, and when that happens, we will let you know.
