Google has released a new iPhone-only app called Uptime. It lets you watch YouTube videos with your friends in real-time.

There's nothing better than catching up on an excellent little YouTube video with your friend. But the problem is: if they aren't in the same room, then there's no way to watch that new viral phenomenon, until or unless you send the link to them. However, if you have Google's new iPhone app installed on your device, called Uptime, then defiantly you can achieve wonders.

In a nutshell, the app lets you watch YouTube videos with your friends in real-time. But not only that, you can comment or share reactions there and then. Furthermore, you have the option to curate a list of favorite YouTube videos which you can then share with your friends. Hence you are not limited to just one video. Lastly, you will get recommendations based on the people you follow.

Having given the app a spin on my iPhone for a few minutes, I have to admit that it's a fun little piece of software. But thelong-run value you might get out of this will not be that astonishing.
