Google Reveals List of 80 Chromebooks That Will Soon Get Support For Android Apps-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 6:24 AM

Last year, Google revealed its plans to bring support for Android apps on up to 50 Chromebooks. The original timeline should have got the process completed by the end of 2016, but only six Chromebooks got the support. Now, Google has renewed its list of Chromebooks and announced the names of 80 Chromebooks that will get Android apps support.

The new list of Chromebooks includes Samsung’s Chromebook Plus, Chromebook Pro, Chromebook 2, and Chromebook 3. The list segmentsthe devices under “planned,” category, which makes it tentative whether they will receive the support or not. Some devices like the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 and Acer Chromebook R13, are tagged as beta channel, which means that they are currently in beta state, but would soon get the stable channel.

Even though the fact that Google still cares for Chromebooks is welcoming, but we must accept that Google’s Android apps for Chromebooks have been anything but impressive. To recap, one of the first Chromebooks, the Samsung Chromebook Plus was plagued with bugs and issues.

Android app support on more Chromebooks would be a nice addition, but our doubts about the "Planned" support for some Chromebooks would hopefully get answered at Google's I/O developer event next month.

Here's the complete list of Chromebooks will get support for Android apps:

Google is “continuing to evaluate” more Chromebooks to add them to the list of supported devices for Android apps. It means that if your Chromebook is not on the list then it could be added in the future. For the Chromebooks released in 2017, Google has already announced the support Android apps but they won't run it out-of-the-box.
