Google To Deliver a Fix For Pixel 2’s Buzzing Sound During Calls Issue, Update Coming Soon-May 2024
May 2, 2025 3:58 AM

Google's Pixel 2 phones have been under a lot of scrutiny due to the software issues that kept surfacing one by one. Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have been plagued by many bugs that brought down the overall performance of the device and disappointed users.

Not just software issues, but Google also fell short in maintaining the quality of packaging. Many users complained about the poor shipping packaging. Some users even received the Pixel 2 units without software.

Google has been quick to respond to all the complaints though. The company acknowledged the issues and promised the Pixel 2 users fixes. One software issue on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL was related to audio, wherein the phone made buzzing noises during calls. Today, Google confirmed that it will be rolling out a software update that will fix the issue.

Google's community manager, Orrin Hancock posted on the Pixel community forum:

Hey all, We're rolling out a software update in the coming weeks which eliminates a faint buzzing sound on some Pixel 2 devices when the phone is placed to your ear during a phone call.

Adding to the list of issues and promised fixes

There have been many issues that surfaced on the Pixel 2 smartphones, and Google has promised a fix for all of them. Many of these fixes are slated to roll out in the "coming weeks". So, today we are adding this audio issue to the scheduled update that is expected to clear all the bugs magically. We think that this said update will cumulatively fix most of the issues on both the Pixel 2 devices, such as the screen burn-in issue on the Pixel 2 XL, unresponsive edges, clicking noises, and more.

All these issues that keep popping up on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL serve as a blatant reminder of how ill-prepared Google was when launching the devices. Every manufacturer runs a variety of tests before shipping out devices, but Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL seem to have skipped some tests. Such issues were least expected on these devices as Google is the manufacturer. Anyway, at least Google has been quick to come up with OTA updates for the issues.
