How to Fix a Disconnecting Wi-Fi Issue on Windows 11/10

A good internet connection is essential no matter what your career path is. However, even if you have a good service provider, you may get connectivity issues. There are different reasons why such issues can occur, and you can try various things to work around them. In this tutorial, I will show you how to fix a disconnecting Wi-Fi issue on Windows 11/10.

Before you check out the tips, there are some things that you should always check:

Is airplane mode off?Is your router plugged in properly?Is your area facing a service outage?Is your router functional?

If none of these issues exist, try out the following tips. Most of these steps will work out for Windows 10 users as well. Check them out below.

Change Network Profile Type

Step-1: Click on the Wi-Fi icon on the taskbar. (Use shortcut keys Win + A to open the action center)

Step-3: Right-click on the connection that is causing issues and select Properties. You can also select the small properties icon at the top right corner if it is available.

Step-4: Set your Network Profile type to Private.

Update Drivers

Most drivers are automatically updated. However, sometimes there may be an issue that is stopping the automatic update. You can update the drivers manually.

Step-1: Use the shortcut keys Win + X to open the WinX menu.

Step-3: Click on Network adapters to expand the option.

Step-4:Right-click on the relevant Wi-Fi adapter and select Update Driver.

Open WinX menu using shortcut keys Win + X.Select Device Manager.Expand the Network adapters option.Double-click on the relevant Wi-Fi adaptor.In the Power Management tab, uncheck. Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. After that, press OK.

Forget Old Networks

Windows will connect you to the fastest of your available networks. However, sometimes these networks are unstable and cannot connect properly. You should ‘forget’ the old connections, or you don’t want to use them.

Open the action center using shortcut keys Win + A.Select the Wi-Fi icon.Right-click on the connection you are trying to Forget. Select Forget.Continue the right-click and select Forget action for all the connections you want to remove.

Auto-Config Service

WLAN Auto-Config service connects you to your preferred network. However, if this service is off, you may have to connect your device to the network manually. You should reset this service to ensure that it connects automatically in the future.

Press the keys Win + R to open the Run box.Type services.msc and press Enter.

Sometimes, changing your DNS can resolve connectivity issues.

Step-1: Open Settings app using shortcut keys Win + I.

Step-2: Select Troubleshoot from the right pane in System settings.

Step-4: Select Run next to Internet Connections.
