How to Update Google Pixel and Pixel XL to Android 7.1.2 NPG05E Nougat-April 2024

Google started releasing Android 7.1.2 Nougat NPG05E to Pixel and Pixel XL along with Pixel C and Nexus Player. If you are registered to Google's beta program, you will receive the notification toregular over-the-air (OTA) updates of all milestone builds. Want to go the manual way? Here is how to update Pixel to Android 7.1.2 NPG05E. The steps will help you flash factory images on both Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Prerequisites to update Pixel and Pixel XL to Android 7.1.2 Beta

Create a backupof all important data on your Pixel device.Download and installUSB driversfor Pixel on your computer.UnlockPixel bootloader.The Android SDK should be installed on your PCwith ADB and Fastboot command working.Enable USB debugging option by pressingMenu>Settings>Applications. Navigate and tap onDeveloper Optionsto enableUSB Debugging.Ensure that your Pixel phonecarries more than 70% of charge.

Let's now flash the latest beta beauty on your Google Pixel or Pixel XL.

Connect your device using a USB cable and turn it off. Make sure that Fastboot is installed on your PC.Now, start the device inFastbootmode:Turn onthe phone while pressing and holding theVolume Up+Volume Down+Powerkeysuntil you see the Fastboot menu and the START text on top.Extract the downloaded Android 7.1.2 file on your PC. Go to_NPG05E_ folder and copy/paste all the files to your Fastboot directory (which often is the platform-tools folder inside the Android SDK directory).This step involves flashing the factory image to your Pixel device. Open the Fastboot folder where we just copied our Nougat factory files. In the address bar, typecmdand type the command written below and press enter.OnWindows:Runflash-all.batOnMac:Runflash-all.shusingTerminalLinux:Runflash-all.shOnce the script finishes running, your Pixel will reboot. First boot may take up to 5 minutes, so don't worry if it takes your device longer than usual to boot up.
