Earlier this month, Huawei took the bold step of announcing that its upcoming HarmonyOS Next will completely erase all support for Android apps on its own. However, the company has now clarified the situation a bit more to give a better understanding of what's happening.

Global Huawei consumers will continue to enjoy the ability to natively run Android apps on their devices

Huawei has now clarified that all the devices outside of China will not be getting HarmonyOS. This means that all mobiles and devices will still run EMUI, which might look similar to HarmonyOS, but it is based on Android Open Source Project but without any Google services and apps. However, you can still install native Android apps via side loading.

China Mobile reports that "Huawei will “continue to increase its support for developers around the world." The company even has a massive community of app developers who are ensuring that all the apps work perfectly fine on devices that have no Google services.

This means that if you are using a Huawei device internationally, you will not be getting the HarmonyOS update, but it also is a sad thing for a lot of users who will not be getting support for the latest operating system. Another thing to add here is that there is a possibility that HarmonyOS might go global at some point, but until it does not, international consumers will have to keep using EMUI with native Android app support.
