Instagram For iPhone Now Lets You Upload Images From Anywhere In iOS-October 2024
Oct 28, 2025 9:48 PM

Instagram for iPhone has received an update, and with it comes a feature which we're certain many will love - the ability to upload photos from anywhere in iOS.

Instagram For iPhone Gains iOS Share Sheet Support, Allowing Photos Uploads From Anywhere

If you're an Instagram user then you are already aware of the steps that are needed to be taken in order to upload, filter, caption and share an image on the social network. While we wouldn't label the entire process absurd, but there's always room for a little bit of flexibility. Today, Instagram hopes to grant users justthat with an update to the official app on iPhone, with the client now supporting photo uploadsfrom anywhere in iOS.

Simply open up any image in the Photos app, or any other location, bring up the Share Sheet, select Instagram and you're good to go. But there's one huge caveat in the entire process which makes uploading images from the client itself a much better option - the Share Sheet method does not allow you to add filters or make edits to an image before uploading it. The only thing you can do is add a caption to your snap before sending it away. Quite frankly, this is a huge turnoff for a lot of users, even us, since it kills the entire purpose of Instagram altogether.

But, we have high hopes that a future update will address this 'issue' as well, and grant users the ability to filter up their photos without having to open up the app itself. And lastly, apart from uploading images, the Share Sheet feature allows you to upload videos directly to Instagram as well. Again, without filters, of course.

The Share Sheet feature is a part of the latest Instagram update, and you can grab the app directly from the App Store- it's absolutely free. If you have Instagram already installed on your device, then simply launch the App Store and grab the update from the 'Updates' tab. It will only take a small while todownload and install (depending on your Internet connection) and you'll be up and running.

We really wish adding filters and making small edits become a part of an update in the near future, since it will further boost the credentials of Instagram. But we shouldn't rule out the fact that things might bekept this way intentionally, either.

Let's hope that is not the case.
