Instagram Will Soon Show Content “You Care About The Most”
Instagram Will Soon Show Content “You Care About The Most”-July 2024
Jul 5, 2025 5:29 AM

Facebook has been presenting content based on user's likes and interests. Similarly, Instagram is embarking on the same road that will adjust the way in which a user's content is shown. Currently, Instagram's content is displayed in a timely or chronological order, but with the company's new personalized algorithms, the moments will be presented according to the user.

Instagram To Ditch Chronological Feed Order In The Coming Months

With that said, Instagram will adjust the feed judging on the bases of your use, irrespective of the time they were posted. The feed will be intelligently organised using an algorithm that will put relevant posts at the top. Not only Facebook, but Twitter as well switched to algorithm-based feeds last month.

The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.

Over the next few months, Instagram will set sail to introduce the feature. Since the company wants to deliver this service in a right way, you will not see any changes in your timeline right away. In this regard, the company is also looking forward to listen to user feedback for any tweaks that can be imposed on the algorithm.

Instagram emphasizes that a user's feed will be organized based on factors such as a person's relationship with the other and the timeline of the content being shared. As we have seen on Facebook, a person's history of likes and comments will also play a role on managing the feed.

If your favorite musician shares a video from last night’s concert, it will be waiting for you when you wake up, no matter how many accounts you follow or what time zone you live in. And when your best friend posts a photo of her new puppy, you won’t miss it.

Since Instagram's main interface displays a stream of content, some users missed relevant photos and videos considering their availability at the right time. In a personalized feed, users would never miss a post shared by their friends. This will definitely be a welcome change.

This is it for now, folks. Do you think Instagram should stick with the chronological timeline? Share your thoughts in the comments.
