Intel Adds Support For Next-Gen Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake CPUs In Linux-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 6:09 PM

Intel has added brand new support and enablement for its next-gen Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake CPUs within the latest version of Linux, reports Phoronix.

Recently, it was reported that the company was preparing to shift support to the Lunar Lake after the full enablement of Arrow Lake and Meteor Lake CPUs. Meteor Lake support, including essential graphics and additional drivers, will be ready before the launch of the newest Linux kernel, allowing Arrow Lake to begin development.

Intel Arrow Lake had no earlier references when the company worked on Lunar Lake support, such as the e1000e network driver support from 2021, during the Linux 5.15 kernel, to the Lunar Lake M-series IDs a few months ago. However, this morning, Intel added a new Arrow Lake model (0xC6) with the x86 and crucial patchwork into the Linux 6.3 kernel. This should allow a starting point for Intel developers to add future code into the Arrow Lake work for Linux 6.4 kernel and beyond.

Intel Arrow Lake CPUs are expected to launch next year. Larabel notes that one of the significant issues that have been an issue with the engineering team is the Intel i915 driver to communicate with the current Meteor Lake integrated graphics in a stable form and not the current experimental state that it is currently in.

Intel's open-source development has also worked towards enabling HD audio support for Lunar Lake P-series chips within Linux 6.4. The audio support work will focus on the Intel HDA open-source driver and add new PCI device IDs targeting Lunar Lake (LNL). Conveniently, the company is utilizing the same intel-hda code paths that have been used since Intel Skylake and will introduce new code to enable the newer chips.
