Considerably a long awaited announcement, Intel has announced in planning to drop a series of price cuts on its currently selling consumer SSD lines namely the SSD 320, SSD 330 and the SSD 520.
Effective from August, the new prices will materialize the price per GB under $1 for several models. However, lower capacity drives in the SSD 320 series will be left unaffected, but none of the less the 300 GB and 600 GB drives are getting the juiciest cuts of all.
The SSD 320 300 GB drive will get a cut from $519 to $464 whereas the 600 GB drive will go down from $1059 to $879.
Further down the road, the SSD 330 drives are getting price cuts which are currently Intel’s best seller model. Here’s a small breakdown of the current pricing on the current and expected pricing in August for both the 330 and 520 SSD drives:
Current Price (SSD 330)
60 GB - $94120 GB - $149180 GB - $234
Expected Price (SSD 330)
60 GB - $69120 GB - $104180 GB - $154
Current Price (SSD 520)
60 GB - $109120 GB - $189180 GB - $279240 GB - $349480 GB - $809
Expected Price (SSD 520)
60 GB - $99120 GB - $139180 GB - $199240 GB - $259480 GB - $594
The new prices therefore seem very competitive against other industry SSD manufacturers and soon more companies are to continue this tidal free fall.
