Clover Trail+

Intel unveiled their latest Clover Trail+ SOC (System On Chip) at the Mobile World Congress 2013 equipped with a Dual Core CPU and faster graphics. Clover Trail+ is still based on the 32nm architecture and retains most features from the original Clover Trail SOC but includes faster graphical performance and an extra core which come handy incomputationaltasks for smartphones and Tablets.

Intel Clover Trail+ Dual Core Lineup

Intel has introduced three SKUs in its Dual Core Clover Trail+ SOC lineup which include the following:

Intel Atom Z2580Intel Atom Z2560Intel Atom Z2520

Each chip has variable frequencies but feature dual cores,PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU, 1920x1200 resolution, 1 MB L2 Cache (512 KB paired to each core) and2 x 32-bit LPDDR2-1066 memory. TheIntel Atom Z2580 is fastest with core clock maxing out at 2.0 GHz and 533 MHz GPU clock, followed byIntel Atom Z2560 with 1.6 GHz CPU and 400 MHz GPU and last of all theIntel Atom Z2520 with 1.2 GHz CPU and 300 MHz GPU clock speeds. All Clover Trail+ SOCs operate at a idle clock speed of 800 MHz and reference stock speed of 933 MHz. Each SOC is hyper-threaded featuring four threads.

GPU performance is almost 3x the times of the original Clover Trail SOC all thanks to the faster and dualPowerVR SGX 544 cores which has DirectX 10 class hardware texturing level. It has34.1 GFLOPS of raw performance.

Additionally, Clover Trail+ updates the Intel SOC lineup with XMM 6360 baseband which brings3GPP release 9 support, with 42Mbps DC-HSPA+ (Category 24) support. With the new Clover Trail+ SOC unveiled, Intel also announced an update to itsFFRD smartphone with the specifications mentioned in the spec sheet below:
