iOS 6.0.1 For iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch Being Tested By Apple-May 2024
May 14, 2025 5:01 PM

Nearly a month back Apple released iOS 6.0 to the public. This major iOS platform update was very well received. Adoption numbers of this update are very high. Apple has done a great job of capitalizing on the success of iOS 5, which happened to be the biggest iOS platform update ever.

Nevertheless, a new software update might have some bugs that are not discovered at the time the update is pushed out. This is exactly the case with iOS 6.0, in which three major bugs exist. Apple has reportedly begun internal testing of iOS 6.0.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The release of this incremental update is expected to happen in the very near future.

iOS 5.0 was released last year alongside iPhone 4S. As mentioned above, it happens to be the biggest iOS platform update ever. iOS 5.0 came with over 200 new features including but not limited to the BBM-esque iMessage, Notification Center, Twitter integration, Siri etc. iOS 6.0 brings more to the table while refining those features which have already existed since the days of iOS 5.0.

A credible source reports that Apple has begun testing iOS 6.0.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch internally. Testing is being done across various mobile networks in the U.S. Apart from the usual slew of bug fixes, performance and stability improvements, iOS 6.0.1 is expected to fix the iPhone 5 keyboard flashing bug, camera flash bug, Passbook app bug, Exchange invite bug as well as bugs related to Wi-Fi and other connectivity options.

Do not expect iOS 6.0.1 to come with any new features or any substantial improvements and updates to the user interface. It will be an incremental update. Apple is expected to release iOS 6.0.1 in the coming weeks. Therefore it would be unwise to expect it to be rolled out after the iPad Mini release event. If the iPad Mini is coming out tomorrow, it will most definitely be running iOS 6.0.
