iOS 8.4.1 Vs iOS 9.0.1 On iPhone 5s, 5, 4s – Performance Comparison (Video)

Here's a performance comparison of iOS 9.0.1 vs iOS 8.4.1 running on iPhone 5s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s.

Geekbench

Within a week of releasing iOS 9 final, Apple pushed out iOS 9.0.1 download to every iPhone, iPad and iPod touch user around the globe. And as you glance at the changelog, you'll realize that iOS 9.0.1 is no more than a bug fix release. But the big question on everyone's mind is: is it faster than iOS 8.4.1? If you're in the ownership of an iPhone 5s, iPhone 5 or an iPhone 4s then that question has been answered in a series of videos, which we have embedded below:

Well, of course, iOS 9 generally is slower than iOS 8.x when it comes to older devices, all thanks to its vast feature set and whatnot. And as you can see from the video, there are many places where iOS 9 struggles to keep up on older hardware, and the first instance of that can be noted on the boot screen, where older iPhone models take up to several seconds extra to boot into the home screen.

Launching apps is also slower on iOS 9.0.1 compared to iOS 8.4.1, hence no surprises there. But one thing that really takes the crown is the speed at which Siri throws back queries in iOS 9.x. iOS 8.4.1 is obviously a slower candidate here and Apple has done a good job with its latest mobile operating system in terms of Siri.

If you have a very old device, such as an iPhone 4s, and also happen to be on iOS 8.x, then we highly recommend that you do not make the jump to iOS 9 just yet. Wait for Apple to implement fixes in terms of performance and battery life and then hop over the fence. It's also quite possible that Apple will address a ton of issues in its upcoming big point release, iOS 9.1. But we wouldn't hold our breath for it either, as Apple tends to surprise users in many ways possible.

If you've been looking forward to installing iOS 9 on your device, then we have a complete guide right here to help you get through the process:How To Download / Install iOS 9, 9.0.1 On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch The Right Way.

If you happen to be in the ownership of an older iPhone, then be sure to let us know in the comments section below what you think about iOS 9. Was upgrading to Cupertino's latest mobile firmware the best thing you ever did?
