iPadOS 17 Rumored To Introduce A Customization Style Similar To iOS, Giving More Personalization Options To Users-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 4:55 AM

Apple continues to keep a number of differences between iOS and iPadOS, but those variations are rumored to see a reduction when iPadOS 17 officially releases for supported models later this year. According to one tipster, the software update is said to bring an iPhone-like Lock Screen customization option for users, along with other changes, so let us discuss them in more detail.

With iPadOS 17, users will be able to edit Lock Screen widgets, add new wallpaper types, and more

Lock Screen options were introduced to compatible iPhones with iOS 16, but sadly, iPad owners were left out of the equation. According to @analyst941, those iOS 16 Lock Screen customization options will be added to iPadOS 17, letting users fill up the unused space on their iPads, which is a much-needed move. The fact that Apple did not think of this change sooner baffles us.

Additionally, MacRumors reports that aside from Lock Screen widgets, you will be able to personalize the clock style, which is another feature present in iOS 16 that did not make it to iPadOS 16. New wallpaper types such as Photo Shuffle, Emojis, and Weather are also expected to get added to iPadOS 17, along with that wallpaper depth effect.

Yeah I’m iPadOS 17 it’ll essentially be optional/editable where it’s positioned. it’ll have all the features of iOS 16 *and* i(Phone)OS 17 (tuned up Ls customizations) https://t.co/bdq9mHrKkV

More changes include a wallpapers gallery, photo tints and styles, and Lock Screens that are linked to Focus Modes. Remember, these are just the changes arriving to iPadOS 17 that have been mentioned by the tipster, suggesting that he might provide his audience with more information prior to Apple’s WWDC 2023 keynote, which is said to kick off on June 5.

Aside from iPadOS 17, a ton of focus will be shifted to iOS 17, with one of the biggest changes is the ability for users to install applications through sideloading. Unfortunately, it appears that this change will not be available to U.S. customers but to those residing in countries that fall under the EU. Other than that, iOS 17 is also rumored to bring improvements to the Dynamic Island, changes to Control Center, Search, and more. As always, we will continuously provide timely updates for both software updates, so stay tuned.
