Looking at the iPhone 7’s small battery capacity, that’s a serious downgrade.

According to a comprehensive review conducted by Anandtech for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, even the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 Plus are able to charge faster than their next generation counterparts, but that’s only because they come outfitted with smaller battery capacities. Since Apple has shipped the same 5W chargers as did with its previous generation family of iPhones, naturally the latest lineup will take some time to fully juice up. In contrast, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and even a Galaxy S7 edge take a lesser amount of time for their batteries to reach full capacity, and that’s really saying something.

Perhaps it is high time that Apple starts to ship off chargers that are able to deliver a higher amount of wattage in order to greatly reduce the total charging time. Looking at how both iPhones come without the 3.5mm headphone, Apple should have thought about this decision a long time ago. Still, if you want to make sure that both your iPhones are charged in a short time span, then it is highly recommended that you invest in a 3rd-party charger, but only use those which have been certified for use with these devices.
