Even though Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus could be slightly thicker as compared to its predecessors thanks to the incorporation of Force Touch tech displays, the tech giant’s next generation iPhone 7 could be thinner than any iPhone introduced to the market so far.

KGI Securities Analyst States That Apple’s iPhone 7 Will Be The Thinnest Out Of All The Devices Launched By The Company

According to a source, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo issued a new report that suggests that Apple’s iPhone 7 is expected to be the company’s thinnest mobile device yet, surpassing the thin form factor of both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. According to the individual, the device that is going to be introduced next year will have a thickness that is going to measure in between 6.0mm and 6.5mm. Currently, Apple’s iPod Touch features a thickness of just 6.1mm, indicating that iPhone 7 could be much thinner than this gadget as well.

Earlier, we received information that the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are going to be incorporated with Apple’s Force Touch tech displays. Due to the addition of another display, we expect the thickness of these devices to be slightly more than their predecessors. However, we are also confident that Apple will find a way around this limitation and introduce improved manufacturing methods with its partners to further reduce the thickness.

We also expect iPhone 7 to feature the company’s own A10 SoC, which is going to fabricated on either TSMC’s or Samsung’s 10nm FinFET process, depending on which company can successfully produce the largest amount of yields first. In order to bring its plan to fruition, the analyst strongly believes that Apple will not be switching from in-cell over to glass-on-glass touch panels next year, which was a rumor out of Apple's supply chain in Asia suggested last week.

In-cell panels’ primary advantage would be that a thin iPhone 7 could be manufactured without running in to too many obstacles. Another advantage of using in-cell panels will be that the company could also produce bezel-free mobile devices, but the trade-off will be that a thinner iPhone will not be able to get produced.

For now, we are going to wait for more details to sprout before we should jump to conclusions. After all, we have the Apple event to look forward to, which is going to take place on September 9th.
