Lenovo goes after workstation market with convertible Thinkpad P40 Yoga-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 2:41 AM

Although some may question whether two-in-one tablet/laptop combos will not one day go the way of the netbook fad, they are certainly the currently technological vogue in mobile computing. That stretches beyond consumers and into the workplace too, and Lenovo is looking to capture part of that market with its new convertible ThinkPad P40 Yoga.Revealed at the end of last year, the new addition to its high-end workstation lineup is now available to purchase, with prices starting at $1,485. What you get for that is quite strong, with the P40 packing a choice of high-end Intel i7 CPUs (6500U or 6600U), 8 or 16GB of DDR3L, Nvidia Quadro M500M 2GB graphics and a 256GB or 512GB solid state drive (SSD).

All of this helps power the 14.1-inch WQHD (2,560 x 1,440p) IPS display with touch-screen functionality. It even comes with a smudge-free coating to help stop fingerprints from greasing up your pretty new workstation.

Software-wise, those picking up the ThinkPad P40 Yoga will have a choice of Windows 7 Professional 64, or Windows 10 Home/Pro 64 and there are optional extras for Microsoft Office standalone purchase and subscription packages to go with it.

All of that is par for the course with a decent laptop or tablet at this point, but it’s the (quite literal) flexibility and functionality of the P40 Yoga that is impressive. Like consumer-grade two-in-ones, this convertible can operate as a notebook, or fold anywhere throughout 360 degrees to give you a stand, tent, or flat tablet design.

Just because it can bend all over the place at the hinge though, doesn’t mean that the P40 is easily damaged. It’s sturdy carbon fiber design is fitted with a magnesium-alloy frame, so it is extremely durable and can take being bumped around in a workspace without difficulty.

You will want to avoid that if you can, though, because it’s a nice looking piece of kit, but this is a workman’s tool and Lenovo knows that.

You can configure your own ThinkPad P40 Yoga on the official site.
