macOS 10.12.5 Beta 5 is Now Available for Developers-May 2024
May 1, 2025 1:37 PM

Apple has released macOS 10.12.5 Beta 5 and developers can download it onto their Macs right away.

Fifth Beta of macOS 10.12.5 Arrives for Developers - Update Now

Slowly and steadily, Apple is progressing towards the big release of macOS 10.12.5, alongside other software as well that currently sits inthe Apple Developer Program website. For now though, we have to deal with developer-oriented betas, that crawl out of Apple's gates on a weekly basis and straight onto the hands of developers. Today is no special day, as the Cupertino giant has released a brand new update for its desktop platform, dubbed macOS 10.12.5 Beta 5.

Being the fifth beta of macOS 10.12.5, one should expect nothing more than bug fixes and performance related enhancements in this build. So if you were expecting that this release will give your Maca plethora of new features, then you would be mistaken to think that. Nonetheless, if you are a developer, it's highly recommended that you go ahead and install the update onto your Mac straight away, given you have a previous build of the software installed on it already.

In order to update to the latest release over the air, launch the Mac App Store, click on the Updates tab and wait for the new update to arrive. When it does, just click on the Update button and the download will commence immediately.

The overall download and installation may take a while depending on the speed of your Internet connection as well as the hardware which your Mac is packing under the hood. But don't worry, you'll be over with it soon.

You will require an Apple Developer Program membership if you are looking to try out the beta on your Mac right away. But mind you, it will cost you $99 on a yearly basis, which might seem a bit too steep. Thankfully, via Apple's Beta Software Program, you can download the software absolutely free, that too over the air. Head over to beta.apple.com to get started.

If Apple really has slipped a new feature into this release, we will highlight it right here, so stay tuned for more.
