MediaTek is on track to release the world’s first deca-core processor running chipset, but the manufacturer will also be announcing three new chips that will definitely be present in the future entry level and mid-ranged smartphones. All three of them will be featuring 64-bit capable processors.
MediaTek Will Be Replacing Its Old 32-bit Processor Running Chipsets With These New Additions
According to a Chinese source, the three mobile chipsets that are going to be present inside future handsets have been listed below.
MT6738: Will be featuring a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor running at 1.5GHzMT6750: Will be featuring an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor comprised up of one quad-core running at 1.5GHz, and another quad-core running at 1.0GHzMT6750T: Will be featuring an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor comprised up of one quad-core running at 1.5GHz, and another quad-core running at 1.0GHz
From the looks of it, MT6738 is going to replace MT6735 and will be present in entry-level smartphones. Another similarity between these three SoCs is that all of them will be incorporated with Cat.6 LTE modems, indicating that MediaTek wants OEMs to grant as much flexibility to users as possible; even those that are on a budget. Previously, only those who were not burdened by financial constraints were able to enjoy the best of what mobile connectivity had to offer so it is great to see companies like MediaTek rolling out chipsets in order to cater to every user based on their smartphone and tablet preference.
MT6750 is most likely going to replace MT6753 and it will be able to pack more power thanks to its octa-core configuration (when compared against MT6738). While the lithographic process has not been mentioned, we believe that all three SoCs are manufactured on the 28nm technology, making them effectively cheaper as opposed to those chips manufactured on the 14nm LPP node. Last, but certainly not least, we have MediaTek’s MT6750T, a chipset that will be featuring the same octa-core configuration as MT6750, with the primary difference separating both chips is that MT6750T specifications will allow for pushing pixels comfortably on a screen resolution of 1080p, while the remaining two are limited to just 720p.

With these three new SoCs, MediaTek will be one step closer to snaring the mid-tier chipset market away from the likes of Qualcomm, the latter should be taken out of the equation completely, since its Snapdragon 650 and Snapdragon 652 are more than just a mouthful for the competition.
