Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is about to be ready as Windows Insiders have already received several major preview builds. With the release of this upcoming Windows 10 version in September, it looks like the Redmond software maker is also going to chop a few things down. MS Paint, the first tool that many of us used to draw and paint weird crap, is apparently on the chopping board too.

"The following features and functionalities in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update are either removed from the product in the current release (“Removed”) or are not in active development and might be removed in futurereleases (“Deprecated”)," Microsoft writes in a new list. "This list is intended to help customers consider these removals and deprecations for their own planning."

RIP MS Paint 1985 - 2017

While this list contains several different parts and functionalities of the operating system, MS Paint will stick out for many. With Windows 10 Creators Update released earlier this year, Microsoft had kept the classic MS Paint app alongside the new 3D Paint, that is the successor of the old version.

First introduced in 1985 with the version Windows 1.0, the app took its current form with Windows 98. After 32 years of service, the MS Paint no longer has a future. While there are several better alternatives, many prefer the classic app for its simple and clean user interface.

Note that the company isn't killing MS Paint with the Fall Creators Update, as the deprecated status means that Microsoft will not develop it any further and might remove it in future.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will also say goodbye to some features

Some features are, however, getting removed completely with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. These include theEnhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET), one of the Microsoft-favorites. The company will be dropping support for EMET for all versions of Windows in July 2018. Microsoft has been asking its enterprise clients to upgrade to Windows 10 that brings EMET's mitigations and more capabilities to protect Windows 10 machines.
