Minisforum has teased its next-gen Venus UM790 & UM780 Mini PCs which will feature AMD's new Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" APUs.

Minisforum Adopts The Phoenix, Next-Gen UM790 & UM780 With AMD Ryzen 7040 APUs Teased

Minisforum made the teaser announcement through its Twitter feed and based on the image, it looks like we will once again get a compact & sleek design with more powerful hardware. AMD's Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" will be powering the next-gen Minisforum Mini PCs and will be hitting the retail segment in the coming months.

Starting with the teaser image itself, we can see a range of I/O including two USB4 (Type-C)ports, four USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-A) ports, a 2.5GbE LAN port, dual HDMI 2,1 outputs, and a 19V DC power connector. The Venus UM790 & UM780 Mini PC will feature a sleek metallic design with exhaust vents on the sides & also the back to vent out hot air.

The internals are the more interesting part as the Minisforum UM790 & UM780 Venus Mini PCs are equipped with AMD's Phoenix APU under the Ryzen 7040 series. These Mini PCs would adopt AMD Ryzen 9 7940H/HS and Ryzen 7 7840H/HS chips.

The final specs are yet to be decided but the Mini PCs will provide up to 8 Zen 4 cores, 16 threads, up to 5.2 GHz boost clocks, and integrated Radeon 780M iGPU with RDNA 3 graphics. The iGPU is great for playing AAA games while being compact & super efficient. Being efficient will also lead to cooler operation and on that front, the Minisforum solution will adopt an active-cooling solution. It will also come with 100W PD support.

Prices and availability are yet to be confirmed but expect these models to cost similar to current Ryzen 6000-based solutions. Furthermore, we have been told that the company will showcase the Venus Mini PCs at Computex 2023 so we can definitely learn more details in just a few days. The Minisforum UM790 & UM780 Venus Mini PCs will be among the many solutions coming later this month with the new AMD Phoenix APUs.
