MSI is preparing two GeForce GTX 770 models which would be featured in their Lightning and Gaming series branding. Both cards would feature the Twin Froze IV cooling solution and a non-reference PCB design which would boost overclocking and performance.

MSI GeForce GTX 770 Lightning - Designed for Overclockers

The GeForce GTX 770 Lightning has already been detailed and was even benchmarked a few days ago.The GeForce GTX 770 Lightning from MSI comes with a non-reference PCB that uses the GK104-425-A2 cooler thatfeatures1536 Cuda cores, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs along with a 2GB GDDR5 memory that operates along 256-bit interface. From previous reports, we know that the reference models would be clocked at1046 MHz core and 1085 MHz boost while the memory would be effectively clocked at 7 GHz which would give a good performance boost over the GeForce GTX 680. However, the MSI GeForce GTX 770 Lightning being a custom model would make use of a factory overclock out-of-box. Chances are thatthe baseclock would beconfiguredover 1100 MHz.

Additionally, the GeForce GTX 770 lightning would make use of the flagship Twin Frozr IV cooling from MSI that usestwo large10cm PWM fans withPropeller BladeTechnology that cool the advanced cooling body ofthe TwinFrozr IV. The cooler is made up ofhigh density fin grid array that provides heat dissipating area that is fed by heat-pipesfeaturingMSI’s SuperPipe technology. It also comes withdust removaltechnology which makes the fan runin reverse for 30 seconds afterbootingto remove dust from the heatsinks. Furthermore, the GPU shipped with MSI’s GPU Reactor module that adds more power to the VRM increasing its overclocking potential and reducing static noise.The GPU comes with 4-Way SLI support and is powered by dual 8-Pin connectors compared to 8-Pin 6-Pin on the reference models. Display outputs include Dual DVI, HDMI and a displayport. The reference GeForce GTX 770 would cost $399-$449 at launch so we can expect a premium price point for this model.

MSI GeForce GTX 770 Gaming - Designed for Gamers

The second card from MSI would be the GeForce GTX 770 Gaming series which falls under their new Gaming series brand. We haven't seen much cards in this brand yet since its relatively new, the GTX 770 Gaming also features a Twin Frozr IV cooling solution but is smaller in size than the one used on Lightning. The PCB is custom made but shorter and less powerful than the GeForce GTX 770 Lightning.

The GPU comes with the same configuration as the GTX 770 Lightning making use of the GK104-425 A2 core, PCB with unlocked digital powerand a Propeller blade cooling solution making use of superpipes which run through the nickel-plated copper base into the large aluminum fin array heatsink. The GeForce GTX 770 Gaming is clocked at 1085 MHz base and 1150 MHz boost and would cost $449 at launch. The GeForce GTX 770 Lightning would cost a little higher at $499.
