New Flagship From LG Coming In Q4; Could Very Likely Overtake Galaxy Note 5 In Performance
New Flagship From LG Coming In Q4; Could Very Likely Overtake Galaxy Note 5 In Performance-May 2024
May 6, 2025 1:49 AM

After the release of Galaxy Note 5, rivaling smartphone firm LG is looking to waste absolutely no time as the company is said to release yet another handset that is expected to arrive during the fourth quarter of 2015. Since we have already seen a Snapdragon chipset present inside G4, we expect the SoC present in the unnamed handset to pack a lot of punch; something that will easily be able to overtake Samsung’s own developed Exynos 7420. At this point, the only SoC coming to our mind is LG’s own NUCLUN 2.

Unnamed LG Flagship Handset Could Sport The Company’s NUCLUN 2, Which Blows Exynos 7420 Out Of The Water

According to a report coming all the way from Korea, the unnamed flagship handset from LG could be announced before 2015 draws to a close. One reason why we are not expecting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 to be present in the upcoming flagship is because the chip will take some time before it goes completelymainstream. The first batch of mobile devices sporting a Snapdragon 820 will not be seen until the first or second quarter of 2016.

Besides, the previously leakedNUCLUN 2 is the perfect chipset for a flagship smartphone. Not only is it going to be processed on the 16nm FinFET architecture, it will have enough firepower to overtake the processing prowess of the Exynos 7420. According to what we came across last time, given below are the leaked benchmarking scores of both Exynos 7420 and NUCLUN 2.

Exynos 7420: Single-core 1486, multi-core 4970NUCLUN 2: Single-core 1796, multi-core 5392

The reason why NUCLUN 2 is able to obtain a higher score is because the chipset is running the following octa-core processor setup.

Quad-core Cortex-A72 running at 2.1 GHzQuad-core Cortex-A53 running at 1.5 GHzNew Flagship From LG Coming In Q4; Could Very Likely Overtake Galaxy Note 5 In Performance

With Exynos 7420 running Cortex-A57 cores instead of Cortex-A72 ones, there's no doubt left why theNUCLUN 2 easily takes a commanding lead over the fastest ‘system on a chip’ present in Android smartphones for 2015. Previously, we had also come across another benchmark, in which an unnamed LG smartphone was able to score in excess of 85,000 points.

It is possible that this score belongs to the upcoming handset, but since it is too earlyto tell, we are going to have to gather sufficient patience and wait for the fourth quarter of this year to see what the company has in store for us.

Hopefully, we will not be left disappointed.
