NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU Benchmarks Leak: Up To 20% Faster Than RTX 3060 But Slower Than 3060 Ti-February 2024

The first benchmarks of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card have leaked out within the Geekbench 5 database.

Leaked NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU Benchmarks Show A 20% Boost Over The RTX 3060

The benchmarks we are looking at were leaked within the Geekbench 5 database and cover the OpenCL and Vulkan performance. These benchmark results show us what the NVIDIA entry-level chips such as the AD107 GPU will have to offer to gamers in terms of gen-over-gen performance increases.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is designed to replace the GeForce RTX 3060 but essentially targets gamers who have been running much older cards such as the RTX 2060 and GTX 1060 series. This card should offer much better performance than those, especially in ray tracing titles due to Ada's updated architectural design along with support for a range of new features such as DLSS 3, AV1 & also the fact that the card runs much more efficiently, and comes in at a price that is cheaper than its predecessor.

In terms of performance, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Non-Ti GPU scored 99,419 points within the Vulkan API test and 105,630 points within the OpenCL API test. Compared to the RTX 3060, the RTX 4060 scores a 20% & 17% lead over its predecessor, respectively. Meanwhile, the RTX 3060 Ti ends up around 3-5% faster in the same benchmarks. Compared to its closest current-gen competitor from AMD, the RX 7600, the GPU offers up to a 32% improvement in performance but also ends up 20% slower than the RTX 4060 Ti. Following is the performance of the cards visualized in charts:

Now the thing about these benchmarks is that they aren't indicative of actual gaming performance since they are based on synthetic tests. The Radeon RX 6700 XT for example is a highly competitive GPU against the RTX 4060 Ti in gaming which isn't showcased here but the performance difference between the RTX 4060 and RTX 3060 can reflect what we can expect to see in gaming results. A 20% boost in performance at a lower price does sound good but that's only if the 3060 Ti doesn't end up being priced close to $300 US which seems to be the case as seen in recent price cuts. The 3060 Ti can eat up sales of the RTX 4060 since it performs the same and offers a wider memory bus which is said to be a serious downgrade by the developers of the Yuzu emulator.

Overall, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is meant to launch later this month on the 29th of June for a price of $299 US. Expect our performance review to cover the graphics card within a range of titles.
