NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Reviews To Focus On MSRP & Premium Variants Individually, Launches 13th April
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Reviews To Focus On MSRP & Premium Variants Individually, Launches 13th April-February 2024
Feb 11, 2026 8:54 PM

The latest embargo document for NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card has leaked out by Videocardz. The new document shows that NVIDIA will be separating the reviews into MSRP and Non-MSRP takes.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Graphics Card's MSRP Reviews Arrive A Day Earlier Than Premium Variants

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card is going to be the latest entry in the RTX 40 "Ada" lineup. The graphics card is expected to sit around the $599 US price range which would be a slightly higher than its predecessor, the $499 US RTX 3070. The graphics card will be unveiled officially on the 12th of April at 6 AM Pacific and at the same time, we will be getting the official reviews.

However, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 embargo document lists two reviews. The official launch will include just MSRP models which are most likely to include the reference Founders Edition (FE) variant. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti didn't get a reference Founders Edition model but NVIDIA sent the press including us an ASUS TUF Gaming variant which was priced higher than the MSRP of $799 US. The RTX 4070 won't see the same situation and instead, the card would indeed be getting an MSRP FE variant and several custom variants that stick by the MSRP though it is unlikely that the AIBs will be willing to send these cards to the press since they want reviewers to focus on the more premium variants.

As such, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070's second review will arrive a day later which also happens to be the official on-shelf launch date. This second round of reviews will focus entirely on non-MSRP variants. These will include more high-end cooling solutions and factory overclocks amongst a list of things. Now for those surprised by this, this isn't the first time that NVIDIA has separated its NDA for reviews in this particular way. The company and its AIBs have done this in the past too and it's a common practice.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Graphics Card "Rumored" Specifications

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to feature the AD104-250/251 GPU core. The GPU will feature 5888 CUDA cores, and 12 GB GDDR6X VRAM clocked at 21 Gbps, There seem to be three PCB boards designed for the GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, two of which we had pointed out last month and another one has been revealed by Kopite7kimi. Two of these are for the reference cards while one is for the Founders Edition as listed below:

Following is a comparison of all the known Ada GPU dies for desktop graphics cards. (Credits to MEGAsizeGPU/TechpowerUP GPU Database for the AD102/AD103/AD104 die shots).

The graphics card is expected to feature a 200W TGP which featured a 220W TGP so you're getting a 10% reduction in power. Also, another interesting thing to note is that the GeForce RTX 4070 core config is very similar to the RTX 3070 which also features 5888 cores but the successor houses the Ada GPU core which should not only bring extra performance but also higher efficiency. The card is also reportedly clocked at 1920 MHz base and 2475 MHz boost clocks which gives it just around 30 TFLOPs of compute power.

As far as pricing is concerned, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is most likely going to be closer to 600 USD otherwise there will be a huge price gap between the Ti and Non-Ti variants. The 4070 Ti starts at $799 US so the RTX 4070 may as well be priced at $599 US which will be a $100 US increase over its predecessor, the $499 US RTX 3070. NVIDIA has started clearing away older RTX 30 FE (Founders Edition) inventory which might be our first hint that this news story could very well be legit.
