Apple is developing new OLED panels for the iPad that will require less power and deliver enhanced performance. The upgraded display technology will debut with the iPad Pro models next year and will be available in both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. While the OLED addition is more than a welcome addition, a new report suggests that the 2024 iPad Pro models will be significantly more expensive than the current models.
11-Inch OLED iPad Pro could be priced at $1,500, while the 13-inch model could be available for $1,800
Apple switched to the mini-LED display on the 12.9-inch variant of the iPad Pro. The display brings accurate colors and a wide dynamic range to the table as well as making the entire experience brighter. The smaller iPad Pro features the same LCD panel and has been the subject of criticism for the lack of innovation. It seems Apple will take a unanimous route with the forthcoming iPad Pro as both models are anticipated to feature OLED displays, but it will come with a cost.
A new report suggests that the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro will cost as much as $1,500, while the 13-inch model will be available for $1,800. The forecasted price is quite significant and would hurt demand and users' preferences to own a 'Pro' iPad. To be precise, the 11-inch model will potentially see an 80% hike, and the 13-inch variant will see a hike of 60% in terms of price. It opens a new door for users to opt for a MacBook than get an iPad.
Apple launched the M2 MacBook Air at a starting price of $1,199 last year alongside the 13-inch MacBook, which costs $1,299. In comparison to the speculated prices, the new MacBook models sound a lot more appealing. While these are two different niches, it would not be wrong to presume that the iPad Pro demand would see a downward slanting slope.

The potential reason why the OLED iPad Pro models will be expensive is due to the increasing cost of components. Take note that the panels are early in development, and Apple has yet to secure the deal with LG and Samsung. Henceforth, the pricing of the iPad Pro models could differ from what is being theorized today.
Cost aside, the OLED iPad Pro models will deliver deeper blacks and improved color accuracy. Additionally, the panels would also consume less power which would contribute to better battery life. The OLED iPad Pro models are slated to launch next year. We will update you guys on the story as soon as it builds up further.
