OnePlus And Oppo Could Be Exiting UK And Some European Market Due To High Cost Of Sales And Poor Return On Investments [Update: OnePlus Denies The Reports]-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:00 AM

[UPDATE]In an email to Android Authority, OnePlus has denied any reports of exiting the UK and European markets. As a matter of fact, the Chinese company has mentioned that it will continue investing in the regions and bring more innovative products and solutions for the users.

[ORIGINAL STORY] OnePlus and Oppo are two big names in the smartphone industry, with a presence worldwide. However, according to the latest tip from multiple sources, both companies have decided to exit the UK and a major part of Europe. Although the reasons are still unclear, many have suggested that the companies are simply not getting the desired return on investment in these regions. Exiting seems to be the best decision.

With Q4 2022 being the worst for OnePlus and Oppo in Europe, companies pulling out of the UK and a major part of Europe seems like a plausible option

I first saw the tweet by renowned tipster Max Jambor who posted that both OnePlus and Oppo are pulling out of Europe, with Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands being the first regions where the companies will be pulling out. He also mentioned in a separate tweet that there is going to be an official confirmation from both companies soon enough.

You can check out the tweet below:

I can confirm: OPPO and OnePlus are pulling out of Europe. First to leave are Germany, UK, France and Netherlands.

Another tipster, snoopytech also mentioned the same thing about the companies leaving the said regions.

The original report, however, emerged from a Chinese publication. Since the news broke out, Oppo issued a statement to the publication about how the focus on the European market is firm and how they plan on staying in the market. This would suggest that the companies are not exiting the market, but the reply is not concrete. We do know that the European market, in particular, has seen declining smartphone sales, and there is enough evidence to prove that as well.

Sadly, at the moment, we can neither confirm nor deny these reports. However, based on Jambor's statement, OnePlus, and Oppo might issue statements later down the road. We will keep a close eye on the situation and keep you posted once the story develops.

Honestly, the news of OnePlus and Oppo's exit from the European market does sound strange, considering how Oppo only recently brought the Find N2 Flip into the European market, and deciding to exit the market does not sit well. But then again, Q4 2022 wasn't really kind to any smartphone manufacturer in Europe, and while Samsung and Apple are companies big enough to bear the brunt of declining shipments, Oppo and OnePlus do not have that level of market dominance in the regions. Whatever the case might be, we will let you know what eventually becomes of this situation.
