OnePlus Rolls Out OxygenOS 4.0.3 Update For OnePlus 3 & 3T, Brings Smart Wi-Fi Switcher, Bug Fixes-January 2024
Jan 26, 2026 10:42 PM

OnePlus has rolled out OxygenOS 4.0.3 update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. It is an incremental update that brings performance enhancements and bug fixes. Based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the OxygenOS 4.0.3 also brings pre-installed Amazon Prime app for users in India.

The OTA update will be rolled out in a phase-wise manner. The latest update also brings a new feature - Smart Wi-Fi Switcher, which automatically switches the Wi-Fi connection to data connection if Wi-Fi signals are steadily weak. Also, the update optimizes exposure level in the camera app which helps in clicking pictures in low-light.

Apart from the new features, the OxygenOS 4.0.3 update also solves Wi-Fi connection problem that was being faced by many OnePlus smartphone owners. To fix it, OnePlus has come up with this solution - Go To Settings Menu on your phone > Tap on Wi-Fi > Configure WiFi > Check the IP address format (IPv4 = Single line, IPv6 = Multiple lines) > If the IP address is IPv6 based, then turn off the IPv6 Support toggle.

On the forum, the companyalso suggests to turn-off the new Smart Wi-Fi Switcher feature if your Wi-Fi connection is still unstable. To turn it off, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Configure WiFi > Slide the toggle icon to disable the feature.

Here's the complete changelog for OxygenOS 4.0.3 update:

Added Wi-Fi IPv6 Support toggleOptimized Smart Wi-Fi Switcher, if turned on, device will switch to data connection if Wi-Fi signal is consistently poorFixed crashes for LineIncreased stability of the Camera appOptimized exposure when taking night time photosUpdated Audio Parameters and improved the quality of audio recordingsUpdated APN settings for select carriersAmazon Prime App will be pre-installed for India Users

Recently, two new vulnerabilities in OxygenOS have surfaced that is related to the bootloader on OnePlus 3 and 3T. According to security researcher - Roee Hay, the vulnerabilities on OnePlus 3 and 3T could allow installation of unverified boot images. With the help of two new native fast boat commands - the device could replace verified boot images with the unverified ones.

With the last update (OxygenOS 4.0.2) OnePlus fixed one of the vulnerabilities that attacked OxygenOS versions from 3.2 to 4.0.1. However, the second vulnerability is still lurking around, and it is unclear if the company is working on a fix or has already dealt with it in the form of OxygenOS 4.0.3 update. If you are a OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T owner, then we suggest you install the update as soon as it hits your phone to avoid vulnerabilities.
