OxygenOS 9.5.5 Update Brings May Security Patches, Camera Improvements and More for the OnePlus 7
OxygenOS 9.5.5 Update Brings May Security Patches, Camera Improvements and More for the OnePlus 7-June 2024
Jun 27, 2025 8:00 PM

The OnePlus 7 was little more than a side note this year when it was released alongside the OnePlus 7 Pro. The 'budget' OnePlus device is little more than a rebranded OnePlus 6T with newer hardware. It is still an excellent device, despite not packing the same bells and whistles as its Pro variant. Regardless of the differences in hardware, the one thing we can expect OnePlus to do is to extend its industry-leading software support to both devices. Last week, the OnePlus 7 received a software update that added DC Dimming, the Fnatic mode and some camera improvements. Today, it is getting a similar update that improves the camera’s performance and adds new features in many ways.

Last week, the OnePlus 7 Pro’s received a similar update that claimed to improve camera performance, among other things. This has been a recurring problem with all OnePlus devices. Despite sporting impressive specs on paper, the cameras almost always fall flat when it comes to real-world performance. It is the primary reason why OnePlus devices cannot hold up against the likes of Samsung, Huawei and Apple. Thankfully, OnePlus takes the feedback given by its users seriously and puts an effort towards making things better.

The update also fixes the colour accuracy and the contrast of the images captured by the camera. It also refines the auto-focus by improving its stability and accuracy. The clarity and the colour of the photographs taken using Nightscape mode have been enhanced as well. Lastly, the update also bumps the device up to the May 2019 Android security patch. There are also several minor QoL updates that didn't get an explicit mention in the changelog. The update is rolling out for all OnePlus 7 devices globally and you should expect to receive it within the week. You can check for it manually by heading to your phone's Settings > System > System updates menu.
